The HerGnome Project is a creation of Linda Erzinger, an assemblage artist living and working in Louisville, KY. Her work focuses on reuse of materials that would otherwise be headed to the landfill. Her themes center on creating new mythologies of nature, animal and human interactions.

The original Gnome was created in January of 2019 with the express purpose of making a mold to form others of her kind. In other words she was born as a mother and Goddess. She was conceived and sculpted during an extreme hormonal shift in the early stages of menopause and became an empowering part of processing these life changes. These larger scale casts (21” tall) are made with a variety of materials and reflect different times and thoughts about being a woman in this American society.

The plan is to present them together in a show(s) along with images and words from the Project’s social media following. Together this will be a collection of works focusing on the many aspects of womanhood. The element of play and sharing ideas and resources is an important aspect to the embodiment of the sacred feminine. The illumination of woman as a powerful figure in all her characteristics is the goal of this showing of works.

Invitations for the presentation of this group show are welcome.
